Dictionary Creation
Any large company has its own terminology solutions that embody many years of development. There is a problem however – the existing terminology is often stored in a scattered form and in diverse formats, it is difficult to access and used inconsistently.
Our profound experience in working with terminology databases renders all these problems easy to solve. We can create the needed lists of terms taking all requirements into account. Terminology databases can be prepared in several possible ways:
- The customer supplies documents in a native or foreign language, these are processed, and monolingual terminology lists are prepared in the required language.
- Taking existing documents and translations as a starting point, we prepare a list of foreign terms with translations (if necessary, usage examples are also provided).
- In case the customer already has terminology lists, they are processed and checked, brought to a uniform layout and format, and corrections are implemented if necessary.
- A combination of methods listed above, i.e. creation of monolingual lists, translation of terms, using customer-prepared materials, and creation of a unified database.
When all work is done, the customer receives consistent terminology, completely verified with the customer and complying with all the requirements. The final materials can be presented in any of the possible formats: as Excel spreadsheets, as files for specialized terminology systems as well as dictionaries ready for use in Translation Memory systems.
